Ragnarok - Arrival of Naglfar

I finally finished this art! At first, it was conceived simply as a drawing of Naglfar - it was drawn in the summer. Only now the drawing has overgrown with other details, turning into Ragnarok!

The ship's design combines the looks of all three chthonic monsters of Scandinavian mythology - the wolf Fenrir, the world serpent Jörmungand, the mistress Hel. The ship itself, according to the legends of the Vikings, is built from the nails of the dead, so if you look closely, you will see its very small components on the parts of the ship. I wanted to make this ship really creepy and unusual. The ship sails on icy water - ice floes are visible from below. According to the myth - a long winter will come before Ragnarok, Fimbulwinter

In addition to the ship, there are a number of other details: Heimdall, the guardian of the Gods, blows the horn of Gjallarhorn. The Einherjar (Odin's warriors) emerged from the gates of Valhalla. Skoll and Hati - the children of the wolf Fenrir, swallowed the moon and the sun in the sky. The monsters themselves are also depicted in the figure to the left of the burned World Tree Yggdrasil - the World Serpent, Fenrir and Hel. She stands on the ship surrounded by the souls of the dead. At Fenrir, you can see the broken chains with which the Gods once bound him. Loki is standing on the destroyed bridge Bifröst, leading the Jotuns to battle. The fire giant Surtur stands on the severed and burnt down Yggdrasil.
